Topic: FCYC Club post Hurricanes reports.

These are the first 11 responses I’ve received.
      Hurricane Damage Reports:
It is possible that you sent me a report and I missed it.  That does happen.

      Key Biscayne Yacht Club

I’m happy to report that KBYC suffered no damage and is operating normally.

      Jim

      Naples Sailing and Yacht Club

Naples Sailing and Yacht Club has sustained no damages, and the marina and dining services are fully operational.

      Bruce Harris

      Carlouel Yacht Club

Thanks for your email. Unfortunately, the damage to Carlouel from the recent hurricanes and flooding was extensive. All facilities remain closed at this time. We are still working through the process of mitigation and dry out, so predicting the estimated timeframe for return of dining, pool and/or marina access is difficult to pin down at this time. I expect we’ll have more information to share at the FCYC meeting in Key Biscayne on 11/9/24.

      Best regards.

      James S. Constable, Esq.

      St. Petersburg Yacht Club

Like many clubs along the West Coast, SPYC has been impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.  As a result, we will not be accepting reciprocal club members through at least November 1, 2024.  At that time, we will reevaluate our status.

Please share this update with your members, and thank you for your understanding during this time.

      a. If so, what limitations exist?  Fuel?  Pump-out?  Electricity?
      Water?
      3. If you are not open, or have limitations, have you received any
estimate on the length of those limitations?
      4. Is your pool open? NO
      5. Please let us know if your club has no damage to report.  SEE COMMENTS BELOW:

On Monday and Tuesday, we will began removing carpets from the lower level of the club, which sustained water damage during Hurricane Helene.

Currently, our downtown clubhouse is still without three-phase power, which is needed to operate kitchen equipment, air conditioning, elevators, and lighting throughout the building. Unfortunately, the transformer responsible for this power sustained an electrical fire on Friday. We are working closely with Duke Energy to assess the damage and develop a plan to restore power to both the transformer and the club.

      Coral Ridge Yacht Club

      Gentleman,

Coral Reef is fully open for FCYC reciprocity.  There would be no limitations regarding visits during this challenging time.

      Coral Reef sustained no damage.

      Jim VanBuren

      General Manager

      St. Charles Yacht Club

Our fixed docks had some power pedestals damaged.  We estimate a four-foot storm surge with Helene and a six-foot surge with Milton.  The floating docks performed as advertised.  We had no structural damage to our club.  All our operations, including dining and our marina are back to normal function.  I have not heard of any complications on the Okeechobee Waterway.

      Carl Schultz, Director.

      Tarpon Springs Yacht Club

Tarpon Springs Yacht Club sustained excessive damage and will be closed until further notice
      General Manager,

      Tarpon Springs Yacht Club

      Vero Beach Yacht Club

All dining operations are open with no limitations.
Marina is open with electricity and water. Pump out and fuel next door at the VB City Marina
      No damage
      Shawn P. Witmer,  General Manager

      Venice Yacht Club

First floor flooded, both storms, marina closed, Tiki open with limited menu 11:30 to dusk.  Pool closed, No estimate at this point on full recovery.  Canceled all events for the next two weeks, and then reassess.

      Kitch

      Naples Yacht Club

Naples Yacht Club did not suffer significant damage during the recent hurricanes.  Operations are normal.

      Smyrna Yacht Club

Smyrna Yacht club had NO damage from the recent storms. Excellent work from our staff and member volunteers. A lot of flooding, trees down and some power outages in the New Smyrna area. The club is open and ready for reciprocity.

        Topic: Venice Yacht Club Update

Venice YC has made a lot of progress the last week. The docks are getting repaired and are almost completed and the dock electric should be up within the week. Once I get my computer and phones back, I will be able to communicate better and touch base. The club should also be back open fully within the next week or so. The club and marine both got hit pretty good with the last two storms, but we are working hard to get everything back up and running. The tiki opened tonight so we are making progress!

        Thanks,

        Jeff Towers

Topic: November Cruise  Jump on Jump off

I am putting together a cruise for IYC  starting November 1, with the ideas of John Todd that each boat captain pick some or all of the cruise plan.  Right now, I have informally been told that we have availability at Venice YC and Sarasota YC for 2 nights at each location.  I am working to add Bird Key and the Field Club and possibly Marina Jacks. Question: Is there interest in adding Bradenton YC?  If so, please let me know.  Once I nail down the dates and number of slips, we will have a formal announcement and sign-up.  Questions: Alan Grossman, [email protected] or 609-932-9219.  Additional suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks

Topic: Tag a Long cruise during the FCYC Cruise to Naples YC

                  Tag a Long schedule

                  • St Charles YC on Sept 11-12th departing morning of the 13th for Naples YC
                  • Departing Naples YC on the 15th and cruising to the Pink Shell Sept 15 – 16th

Both Andre at St Charles (239) 264-6008 and Dave at Pink Shell (239) 463-6181 said they have room for others but we each need to make our own reservations.

Currently on this trip Glen Mayer, John Todd and Dennis and Shirla are doing the St Charles part.   So 6 boats can go to St Charles at this time, and 6 or 7 boats  to Pink Shell.

You do not need to be registered for FCYC at Naples to do the other two legs of the trip. It may even be possible to get a slip at Naples Sailing and Yacht Club.
