Fleet Review & Blessing of the Fleet
Saturday, November 21, 4:00 p.m. Fleet Review and Blessing of the Fleet,
5:00 p.m. Social and Blue Gavel Toast
6:00 p.m. DinnerAs we begin season again, our tradition of Blessing of the Fleet will be taking place November 21! This is a centuries old tradition which originated in the Mediterranean Sea. Mariners would seek a blessing of their vessel and crew hoping for bountiful catches, safe passage, good weather, and following seas. This tradition continues to this day and we are pleased that it is a cherished IYC tradition as well!
All boat from paddle boats, sailboats and powerboats are encourage to participate.
This year the fleet will be escorted by Punta Gorda’s Police Boat. Each participating boat will be given a special Burgee commemorating this year’s event.
If you are not going to participate by boat, please come and watch the Fleet Review from the patio from 4 to 6 when the Blue Gavel will be offering complimentary cocktails.
After the Fleet Review, all are welcome to join us for dinner at 6:00 PM, when we will announce the winners of best decorated boats.
